Maria v/d Westhuizen

A quiet determination, an unassuming confidence and a
voice which has a haunting intensity, these are just
some of the qualities of Maria v/d Westhuizen. Maria is
a highly talented young woman with incredible vocal and
song writing talents.
Following with Maria's success at winning the 1994 E.P
HERALD/RADIO ALGOA "ON THE GO SHOW" ' Best Female Artist
Award' in Port Elizabeth, her career has taken on new
heights. What was a "might" has become a certainty. Her
debut album, "I CALL HIM LORD" introduced her to the
South African market. In 1996 Maria was chosen among
many to be the opening act for D.C. talk and Lisa Bevill,
who are very well known artists from the USA. 1997 saw
Maria as an adjudicator together with Dennis East and
Kurt Darren for the current E.P Herald/ On The Go Show.
A TIME TO SHARE - the Christmas Collection followed in
1995. Maria worked together with well-known artists
Ken.J.Larkin and Billy Paulson on this album. They
toured extensively and Maria was never daunted by
working with two such passionate and vibrant People.
This tour further entrenched her as a favourite among
young and old. In 1998 Maria completed her second solo
album - SIMPLY MARIA and with that came a video for SABC
TV, of one of the songs called 'One by One'. Maria has
turned her hand to song writing and has again proven to
be highly proficient at it. Her song writing has depth
and maturity to it as will as wisdom beyond her years.
The endless hours of studio time Maria has taken in her
stride, not to mention the tours which have put her on
stage with various local artists. Maria has also been a
favorite at conventions hosting international speakers
such as Rodney Howard Browne, Myles Munroe and Rick
Godwin.
Along with the new album, Maria was nominated as a
finalist in the 4th annual 1998 "FNB SAMA" Awards, in
the category "Best Contemporary Gospel Performance" for
"Simply Maria".
She has already released her third solo album "HOLY OF
HOLIES".
This Album speaks to the heart and feeds the soul and
through the words and music, Maria hopes to speak into
the lives of many people. Sending a positive message of
hope and love in a time and age where the two are not as
easily felt or found.
